Heavy duty coiled pins consists of 2 1/4 coils of spring steel or stainless steel slotted pins. They remain flexible after installation, so they absorb shock and vibration better than slotted spring pins. They work well in holes that are out of round. Use them for fastening, pivoting and holding.

When coiled spring pins are installed, the compression starts at the outer edge and moves through the coils toward the center. Coiled pins continue to flex after insertion when a load is applied to the pin thus providing excellent performance to counter fatigue in dynamic applications.

The advantages are as follows. First, the design improves shock absorption as the load is spread over more than one coil. Second, assembly is easier as the insertion force needed is lower. Third, the pins cannot interlock when in bulk, which is a benefit when they are to be barrel plated or installed using bowl-fed equipment.
